In lieu of buying Christmas gifts for one another, the fifth grade students at Hendry Park and their families donated over $500 in order to buy Christmas presents for the three young children currently housed at TLC domestic violence shelter. The students came up with lists of items for their teachers to buy, had to stay within a given budget, and helped to wrap the presents that were secretly delivered before Christmas. It was a great lesson of giving for all!
Angola’s domestic violence shelter has much to be thankful in 2021 including a full pantry and freezer of chicken delivered at Christmas by the generous folks at Cameron Hospital and Millers Amish Country Poultry. These gifts of food will feed residents and kids at Christmas and well into the New Year 2022.
Incredible story of caring during COVID Pandemic:
TLC House Indiana, Angola’s domestic violence shelter placed a “SOS plea for help” on Facebook urgently seeking bedding for sleeping rooms and supplies for residents. We included a photo of the sparse room of metal bunk beds and mattresses, and asked for help. WE GOT HELP! Thank you!
OUR COMMUNITY RESPONSE:
The response from the community was swift and extraordinary; We received urgently needed supplies and now our domestic violence shelter has clean bedding and pillows for its sleeping rooms to cover the up coming holiday season and well into the new year. Additional donations of non-perishable food, canned goods, hygiene products for women and babies and cash donations were received via our website:
